The teams featured in this tournament are from the Michigan Community
College Athletic Association and include the NJCAA D-II #2 ranked
Schoolcraft College (25-2) women's program. Also in the field are
three other women's teams ranked among the NJCAA D-II Top 15 Teams;
#8 Lake Michigan College (20-5); #10 Grand Rapids CC (20-5); #11
Kalamazoo CC (21-5) and a non-ranked but 20 win team in Oakland
CC (20-6) that is a strong contender for the MCCAA State champion.

Two-time defending NJCAA D-II National Champion Mott Community College
(24-4), currently ranked #9 in the NJCAA D-II Poll will be among
the teams in the tournament. Winner of this tournament advances
to the NJCAA D-II National Championship Tournament in Danville,
IL.
Also in the field is another NJCAA D-II Top 10 team, #10 Oakland
Community College (24-5), as well as Glen Oaks CC (21-7), Lansing
CC (19-7), Henry Ford CC (19-7), St. Clair County CC (19-8), Grand
Rapids CC (16-7) to name a few.
Among the standout player's who were in the tournament last year
was Jeremie Simmons from Mott Community College who was named a
first team All American and was the NJCAA Division II Player of
the year. Simmons is now the starting point guard at Ohio State
University. Thomas Kennedy (who gained a following after his YouTube
dunk from a game last year), also from Mott Community College played
in this tournament. He was a NJCAA D-II second team All American
and is now playing for the University of Detroit.
There will be numerous player's who are ranked among the top player's
statistically in the NJCAA Division II including the number one
shot blocker in the country from Mott CC who averages nearly eight
(7.99) blocks per game.
